WHAT I DO

My bespoke lighting design service gives you a full lighting design scheme and specification without bias to any particular supplier or manufacturer, and no obligation to purchase products through me. In fact, I no longer supply lighting, although I have done so for many years and have an in-depth knowledge of the latest, most effective architectural and feature lighting products available.

What I do is mark up plans with circuits and proposed luminaires and these details are presented together with a full breakdown of lighting products and suppliers so that you or your electrical contractor can purchase direct.

LIGHTING CONSULTATIONS

The best plan is to have a phone/zoom conversation first to discuss your project and then you can decide if you would like us to meet up on site.

I’m happy to visit sites throughout the UK for which I charge a fixed day rate, on a sliding scale dependent on your location in the country. This includes travel and the consultation (max 4 hours).

Sometimes an initial visit is all you may need; an in-depth meeting going through your preferences and discussing suggested solutions for enhancing your property. As I have experience of techniques that work, or can be challenging, I’m pretty good at coming up with ideas on the spur of the moment. Other solutions require more thought and would be inspected further with the full design service.

LIGHTING DESIGN SERVICE

If you would then like to progress to having a full design drawn up and annotated I will then quote according to your requirements.

It helps me to have a full understanding of your style preferences as this will enable me to propose architectural fittings and feature lighting that will marry with your design.

I mark up architectural plans showing each circuit and the relevant luminaires. I also compile a design board of proposed light fittings and this all comes together with a full specification sheet showing all details of products, references, manufacturers etc on a circuit by circuit basis. Please note that plans are marked up in PDF format, not CAD.

ONLINE LIGHTING DESIGN

I also offer an online lighting design service via my other website www.luxplan.co.uk This service is often perfect for relatively simple new-builds although for renovations, especially traditional buildings, a site visit can be invaluable.

PREVIOUS PROJECTS

I have experience of working on all types of structures, from newbuilds to Grade II and even Grade I listed buildings. Generally, my design work is for residential buildings and gardens although I have also worked on several hospitality and office projects.
